David Brooks, “Hey! Elitist conservatives are still relevant!”

David Brooks [Elitist Conservative] said this in the NYT:

…over the past couple of years we’ve seen the power of spontaneous social movements: first the movement that formed behind Barack Obama, and now, equally large, the Tea Party movement.

I’ll cede you the fact that the fractured, leaderless, and raucous Tea Party “movement” has amassed some momentum.

But are you really [literally] saying that the dynamic changing movement that swept the first African-American president into office has the same social size and impact as this guy?
