How newspapers can save themselves!

What if major newspapers start cutting deals to bundle content with wireless phone providers?  The Wall Street Journal has moved their iPhone app towards a paid subscription and The New York Times  is not far behind.

How much is WSJ and NYT actual readership up since people started reading for  free online or on an iPhones etc? You can’t tell me they have figured this metric out.

Remember when radio was new media?  No, me neither.  Anyway, radio is starting to figure out that their old ratings system was way out off base. And let’s face it, newspapers haven’t exactly been ahead of many curves lately.

I would argue that readership is actually way up and besides for that I think I would pay $1 a month for NYT access (which I’ve previously never paid for in any way). I suspect others would too.

If we’re lucky local papers are added–you would have an option of one local and one national.

Hey newspaper publishers–you’re welcome!
