Glenn Beck is…right?

Several top Republicans including Senators Christopher S. BondJohn McCain, and Representative Peter T. King of New York, the ranking Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, all gave immediate push back to charging the Times Square bomber, Mr. Shahzad, as a civilian.

Then, something weird happened…

“In a case of odd allies, Glenn Beck, the conservative Fox News commentator, said Mr. Shahzad was entitled to his rights. “He’s a citizen of the United States, so I say we uphold the laws and the Constitution on citizens,” Mr. Beck said. “He has all the rights under the Constitution. We don’t shred the Constitution when it’s popular.”

Don’t believe it?  Here’s the clip (sorry about the odd title page):

  1. I’m speechless. I don’t think I’d ever agree with Glenn Beck on anything even remotely political.

Also, pics or it didn’t happen.

  2. @xero I read this and didn’t believe it either. Then like an hour later they played the the clip on the Daily Show. Stewart made a good point, they didn’t take away the man who shot Regan’s rights as a citizen. To crudely paraphrase, “McCai. Is pandering to a fringe who inexplicably complain about higher taxes under the guise of concern for the government taking away their rights, and McCain landers to them by advocating taking away a cirizen’s rights.”

  3. Hope the video helps everyone in their disbelief!

  4. What was that opening? Weird.

  5. I don’t think the shock comes so much from you agreeing with him. It’s more from the fact that he finally said something that wasn’t completely batshit crazy.

Still, my world feels like it’s crumbling.
